Terms

The short version

• Play fair and follow the code of conduct.
• The game is free software. These terms do not restrict the rights its licence gives you.
• The service is free and provided as is. It may change, be interrupted or be discontinued.

Who and what

These terms are between you and Velvet Innovations LLC ("we"), who runs Retrocycles.io. They cover the page at retrocycles.io, the platform behind it (guests, accounts, Quick Play, progress) and the official game rooms. By playing, or by creating an account, you agree to them. Our privacy policy says what we do with your data.

Community servers in the server browser are not ours. Their admins set their own rules.

The game is free software

The game client on this site is Armagetron Advanced and our changes to it, under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. You may copy, change and share it under that licence, and run your own servers. Nothing in these terms limits those rights; where they appear to, the licence takes precedence. The source code is offered on the about page.

The platform (the hosted service behind sign-in, Quick Play and progress) is a separate service, not part of the game's software, and these terms govern your use of it.

Age

You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. See age requirements.

Your account

• Use a real email address that you have access to, and keep your password private.
• One person per account. You are responsible for activity on your account; tell us if someone else gains access to it.
• On a shared computer, select "shared computer" when signing in and sign out when you are done.
• Your handle must follow the code of conduct. We may change or take back a handle that breaks it, impersonates someone, or is someone else's name or brand.

Conduct

Follow the code of conduct in the official rooms and on the platform. We may filter chat, rename players, and mute, kick or ban as it describes. Don't attack, overload or probe the service, don't scrape it, and don't use it to break the law.

What you say and make

You keep ownership of your chat messages and names. You allow us to transmit and display them to other players, retain them for as long as needed to run and moderate the service, and remove them if they break the rules.

XP, levels and unlocks

XP, levels, unlocks and anything else you earn in the game have no monetary value and are not your property. They can't be sold or traded outside the game. We may change how they are earned, correct mistakes, and remove what was earned by cheating. There is currently nothing to buy; if that changes, we will update these terms before purchases become available.

The service

Retrocycles.io is free and provided as is. We do our best to keep it running, but we do not guarantee that the service, any room or your progress will always be available, or that it is free of bugs. We may change it, pause it or end it. If we end it, we will say so on the site first.

Account closure and suspension

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to support@retrocycles.io. We may suspend or close an account, or ban a player, for breaking these terms or the code of conduct; you can appeal.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for losing progress, items or access. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says can't be limited, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in Wyoming. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the law of the country where you live.

Changes

We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, if a change matters, say so on the site before it applies. If you continue to use the service after that, the new terms apply.
